YOU JUST MIGHT BE A WITCH

Depending on which part of the world you’re reading from, this title is either offensive or just a regular, everyday reference to your choice of worship. While it may be the case for other continents, African witchcraft has nothing to do with Quidditch or a friendly half-giant who uses an umbrella wand and speaks funny English 😂 Talking about Harry potter in case you didn’t have an adolescence😬🙊 I keed I keed! 🤗

Regardless of what race you are, however, if you’re Christian, you should know that scripture is no friend of witches. The most popular scripture on witches, I suspect, is Exodus 22:18 – suffer not a witch to live. And of course, in your head, this verse has absolutely nothing to do with you. You’ve never seen a wand in your life! You’re no Voldermort. In fact you even bit your tongue when you tried the ‘abrakadabra’ spell. But may I suggest to you, sweet reader, that you just might be a witch! Or a wizard!

Saul had one simple task – to completely destroy all that the Amalekites had, and slay every man and woman, infant and suckling, cattle and sheep, camel and donkeys. 1 Samuel 15:3. But this is what he does: he killed everyone except the king whom he captured, and kept the best of the sheep and goat, cattle and fattened calves and lambs. He destroyed only what was worthless and of poor quality [v.9, NLT]. Now Samuel had the daunting task of confronting this incorrigible king, and among the many things he told Saul, here’s what may apply to you today as a believer:

Disobedience/Rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft! [v. 23]

With no intention to be overly technical, let me attempt to explain the sin of rebellion. It takes its root from the Hebrew word ‘mârâh’ which means bitterness [Remember Naomi and the bitter waters of Marah?]. To be rebellious is to be contentious, to resist. It is a blatant disregard of some authority. It is the heart’s position of unwillingness to submit its passions and choices and meditations to the Lordship of the Son of God. There’s a fat difference between rebellion and transgression and sin. Transgression [paraptoma] is a deviation, intentional or unintentional, and sin [harmatia] is to miss the mark. They have less to do with a conscious decision to resist God’s authority on a person’s life, unlike rebellion.

Here’s what you may not want to hear:

For that one area of your life that you refuse to change your mindset concerning, you’re being a rebellious witch! For that one thing you keep saying ‘God understands’ about, you are being a rebellious witch!

For that lifestyle, those choices which you make knowing that they’re contrary to the Lordship of Jesus in your life, you are no different from the man/woman who flies deep in the night in search of human blood for sacrifice and rituals!

I will tell you what Samuel told Saul:

What is more pleasing to the Lord: your offerings and sacrifices or your obedience to His voice? LISTEN! Obedience is better than sacrifice, and submission is better than offering the fat of rams.”

You do not need tongue-twisting deliverance and anointing oil. You need a renewal of mind. And I advise you do so before you have to stand in answer for your witchcraft before the Lord.
